In the name of God, the Merciful, the Magnificent
The record of the government of Bahrainis full of political and human rights violations, and abuses. Bahrain is a State which applies sectarian discrimination and even sectarian persecution. The Government of Bahrain discriminates againstits citizensin employment on sectarian grounds and adopts a naturalization policy on sectarian grounds to change the demographic structure of the population;
Furthermore, the Government exercisesrepression, imprisonment and torture of political opponents, and extends personal insults and humiliation against them and derides their beliefs and personal convictions as well as making mockery of their religious scholars and symbols. Besides, the Government of latedemolishedmore thanthirty-eight mosques belonging to the Shiite majority population. Added to this, is their imprisonment of a number of Shiite clerics, and symbols, and their displacement of some of the mnot for no reason other than siding with the legitimate demands oftheir fellow citizens and for defendingtheirviolated rights.
Furthermore, the Government issued a decreeto dissolve the Islamic Scholars’ Council, an institution overlooking the Shiite doctrines and overall interests of the Shiite communityin the country, beside othersystematicabusesagainstthe Shiite community, primarily because they constitute the dominant national opposition in the country..
These arbitrary and repugnant measures taken by the Government are over and above the general lack ofjusticewithin thepoliticalsystem which does not offer equal opportunities in the utilization of the Country’s wealth and natural resources or in the economic and developmental exploitation of these resources.
These prominent violationsand abuses at thepolitical and human rights levels targeting primarily the Shiite communitythat represents themajorityin the country, cannotbe concealed or hidden throughfalse publicity campaigns, and attempts topolish theregime’s imageabroad, no matter how much money they spend , or resources they use or consciences they subdue or corrupt because thesectarian andrepressive nature of the regimeis so grotesque, evident and well known and felt throughout the daily activities of the citizens and is documented and endorsed within human rights organizationsat home and abroad.
In this regard, we confirm that the Jaafari Endowments Directorate, being an official institution administered by the Government, does not represent the Shiite community or their Scholars but it is another manifestation of the sectarian repression inthe country. Thus any role played by this directorate in the Government’s public relations campaign ,to polish the image of the regime does notrepresentthe Shiite community whatsoever and only reflects the interests of the entity who appointed them, i.e. the regime itself. This also applies to any ‘scholarly’ or non-scholarly personality participating in this campaign. TheShiite community in the country represented by its devoted scholars and honest citizens dissociate themselves from such activity and do not approve it,
This is in line with the guidelines given by Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) who had said: “Whoever applies injustice and whoever cooperates with injustice and whoever consents with injustice, are threepartners”. (Al-bihar2/333 )
It is also narrated that the holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him and upon hisfamily) had said: “….I hate most and is most distant from me and from God Almighty is a false witness” (Bihar Al-Anwar 101/310)
Thus, our ongoing appeal to the World and to the international Human rights’ organizations is to exercise their humanitarian role by exerting adequate pressure on the regimein Bahrain toadhere to human rights’ principles, and to respect thewill and the aspirations of the people evolved over the last few decades and particularly in the last twenty years including thecurrent uprising which beganon 14th February 2011 and is continuing – God willing until achievingits just and legitimate demands, and thees tablishment of a state based on equitable citizenship, human right sand human dignity.
